Situation

Our client was reviewing data from various chat programs on mobile phones for an investigation.

After the data was collected, it required processing and uploading in a format that allowed for contextual and meaningful review within the eDiscovery review workspace. However, the standard processing workflows do not always present messaging data in a format that can be easily reviewed in a dedicated eDiscovery review platform.

Solution

Sky Discovery’s technical team developed a specialised processing workflow. This workflow was designed to format the collected message data in such a way that it could be easily imported into the review platform. Additionally, the data was visualised similarly to how it would appear in its native chat application.

This was completed with limited additional processing time and made available to the team to review meaningfully within the context of chat-based message conversations.

Impact

Our work in processing the raw chat data and visualising in the review platform allowed our client to:

• Extract defensible data from its source quickly

• Access and easily search the chat message data in context

• Increase the speed and accuracy of the review process.
